An antique wooden needle dispenser, made in Germany for Asbro. The top comes off and there is a small wooden disc that rotates to the various size needles, 4-8. There is a spot that says "shut". One would tip the dispenser to get the desired needle.
It measures about 2 3/4 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches at the base.
It might once have had sand or sawdust under the fabric on top. However, that fabric has frayed and split, with age and use.
The graphics are readable and nice, but a bit worn.
Overall, a nice antique sewing collectible.
