An antique souvenir fan from the J. Mould Bee Hive Store in Reading, PA. 645 Penn Street
The department store opened at this location in 1878 and was a large 4-story brick building.
This small fan measures 8 1/2" from top to bottom. The fan part is about a 3 1/2" oval and is made of paper. The stick handle is made of wood.
There is some wear to the black paper and edge at the base of the fan oval.
The imagery is of Asian influence with birds and flowers near water.
This possibly is in reference to "The Pagoda", a mountain resort purchased and presented to the city of Reading by Mr. Mould and his wife in 1911 to preserve it.
In very nice antique condition.
